HISTORY of theWILDWOOD
FIRE DEPARTMENT

With the consolidation of the Boroughs of Holly Beach and Wildwood in 1912, the City of Wildwood was formed. At a meeting in January of 1913 Charles Nickerson was elected Chief of the Wildwood Fire Department and Harry Dunham, Assistant Chief.

In 1932, the volunteers were replaced by a fully paid fire department and William Letts was appointed Chief. After a few years, and with a change of city officials, the volunteers again returned to the firehouse.
